Bison Burger Basics

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of Ground Bison

  • 4 Burger Buns, split & toasted

  • Preferred Seasoning. Some of our favorites include-

    • BBQ Rub- Hine’s Meat Co., Felton & Mary’s, Wallowa River Sand

    • Garlic- Fresh, Minced, Powdered or Granulated

  • Montreal Steak Seasoning

  • Season Salt (We are a Lawry's Family)

Directions

  • Heat your cooking vessel-

    • Pan Frying- Medium, medium/high heat

    • Grilling- Medium hot coals/temperature

  • As the ground is very lean, here are a couple tips to help the patties stick together better:

    • Knead burger for 1-2 minutes, you will see consistency slightly change. This helps the burger hold together better.

    • Press the ground FIRMLY together, a patty press is suggested

    • Mix an egg into the ground prior to pressing into patties. Eggs are a binding agent.

  • Shape into 3-4, 1/2 inch thick patties and season. Seasoning can be added during the patty forming stage if preferred.

  • Place patties in/on your pan or grill, turning once when juices appear on the topside of the patty.

  • Cook until medium or medium rare depending on your personal preference.

  • Place into each patty into a toasted bun, top with your favorite condiments/toppings and enjoy!
